[Single Review] SISTAR bring in the summer with 'Touch My Body'

SISTAR are a top tier group now, there's no denying it. Competing with the likes of Girls' Generation and 2NE1. They released 'Touch My Body' on the 21st and it's been #1 on Melon since despite INFINITE releasing their brilliant new single since. So what do I think?

'Touch My Body' is summery hip-hop pop saxophone infused song. Major Lazer esque trap blips are scattered across the song too which keeps it fresh. The whole saxophone use in pop songs has been a bit overused lately but you don't feel that here. Hearing that they were stepping away from their longtime producers Brave Brothers and Duble Sidekick and instead working with Rado I was excited to hear what we would get, it's still very much a SISTAR song but there's definitely a fresh take on what they do here.

It's a really is well crafted song and is an instant ear worm. It has this lovely saxophone break in the middle and the necessary catchy k-pop chorus. Bora's rap break is also not as awkward as they can be thanks to a nice instrumental change. Hyorin of course dominates the song but I don't mind that, her voice is magnificent.

I also love the MV. It's got this kinda Britney Spear's 'Work Bitch' meets 2NE1's 'Falling In Love' feel to it. It's amazingly bright and colourful and a perfect video for the summer. The dance scene with the pool is just stunning and I would love a dance version with just that. The girls of course look stunning. SISTAR are known for their sexy concepts and this video doesn't disappoint on that front. They don't take themselves too seriously here which can be a pitfall for many groups. It's just a really fun and uplifting video. I have to say though that I'm not a massive fan of the choreography here, they can do better, it's quite simple and the 'butt shaking move' is just kinda embarrassing.

It's getting a lot of comparisons to Girl's Day newest video, ok they do have similar concepts to them but no one's copying anyone here, it's summer, tons of videos like this come out. I'm not a massive fan of the Girl's Day video, mostly because of the awkward editing but that doesn't really matter.

Overall this a great summer tune from a great girl group, they never dissapoint. Also I'd recommend listening to the whole mini album, it might be their best.

Score: 8/10
