TS pushed them as the female B.A.P but lacked that something special, it didn't help that the title track had an outdated sound and that it truly was B.A.P's early concepts plastered on female bodies. But I saw talent and promise and prayed for a better (proper) comeback single. But their new single 'Cushion' thankfully may be one of the best of the year so far.

'Cushion' strikes a perfect balance between 'cutesy' and 'fierce' that many groups try and fail to do. This is actually the concept/sound I wish A-Pink would transition to instead of churning out the same thing over and over. Really fresh production and some very VERY nice harmonies sprinkled through (0:22 is perfect vocal performance and production), raps are pretty good, chorus is super catchy... what more could you want from a k-pop single? Ok the awkward english lyrics are a little grating, I actually thought they were saying 'kiss my cushion' which would have made the whole thing 10x more amazing but it's ok I'll deal with another boy adoration song instead of ass worship. The chorus also reminds me of Red Velvet's Ice Cream Cake in the best way possible. It's the kind of song you'll probably listen on repeat for the first week and then never play again until December and tweet out "remember this jam?" or is that just something I do?

They're all beautiful as well and I personally want them to be known as the <strike>more</strike> interesting version of A-Pink but I'm doubtful Korea will pick up on them as they have the CUBE girls. Oh well, we can only hope. EddieXXIhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03552055105738959330noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9139846626263024706.post-85756895502999754272015-04-10T09:20:00.001-07:002015-04-10T09:22:39.310-07:00[Single/MV Review] Girls' Generation's worst single? ...Catch Me If You CanSo this is SNSD's first single since the loss of member Jessica. It's a Japanese single but for some reason SM has decided to release it in Korea simultaneously too. I guess it's to act as some sort of buzz single for their full blown Korean comeback rumoured to be happening sometime in May.

...and it's kinda left me a bit disappointed.

Now I generally set the bar for Girls' Generations Japanese singles a bit lower than for Korean but this just didn't quite reach it. I do really like the punchy verses showing off their lower registers and the fact that Hyoyeon gets more than one line but that pre-chorus is really bland and unoriginal. I really do not like it and actually, I hate it. That really doesn't happen often that I HATE a part of a single from a company like SM but it's happened.

The breakdown is fine, nothing special and a bit repetitive. Taeyeon singing over it in the end second chorus made it a bit more interesting, don't know why they didn't do that for every chorus and for the whole chorus. It's by no means their worst single ever (Hoot exists, ya'll seem to have forgotten) but it seems to be getting a lot of backlash from people. Oh well, if you want great EDM in k-pop just look to T-ara.

I'll probably still jam to it for a bit and then remember that songs like The Great Escape and Karma Butterfly exist and then wonder why I'm wasting my time with this crap. BECAUSE HYO GODAMMIT.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The MV however is friggin' great and actually one of my favourites from them. I probably wouldn't even given this song more than one play without it. They all look great, the choreography is great, the setting is great. It's great. I don't know if the choreography has been stepped up to distract away form the fact we've lost Jessica or if losing her meant the rest could actually be pushed dance to their full potential. I'm mostly just pleased that Hyoyeon actually is featured predominately for once. I'm deducting half a point for those orange suits though...smh

...Actually also thinking about it, now that they've lost a main vocalist I wonder if SM is gonna push them less vocally and go for these types of dance centred tracks and give more vocal songs to TTS. hmmmmmmm....EddieXXIhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03552055105738959330noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9139846626263024706.post-80135840509490195742014-07-22T09:51:00.001-07:002014-07-22T09:51:38.547-07:00[Single Review] SISTAR bring in the summer with 'Touch My Body'

SISTAR are a top tier group now, there's no denying it. Competing with the likes of Girls' Generation and 2NE1. They released 'Touch My Body' on the 21st and it's been #1 on Melon since despite INFINITE releasing their brilliant new single since. So what do I think?

'Touch My Body' is summery hip-hop pop saxophone infused song. Major Lazer esque trap blips are scattered across the song too which keeps it fresh. The whole saxophone use in pop songs has been a bit overused lately but you don't feel that here. Hearing that they were stepping away from their longtime producers Brave Brothers and Duble Sidekick and instead working with Rado I was excited to hear what we would get, it's still very much a SISTAR song but there's definitely a fresh take on what they do here.

It's a really is well crafted song and is an instant ear worm. It has this lovely saxophone break in the middle and the necessary catchy k-pop chorus. Bora's rap break is also not as awkward as they can be thanks to a nice instrumental change. Hyorin of course dominates the song but I don't mind that, her voice is magnificent.

I also love the MV. It's got this kinda Britney Spear's 'Work Bitch' meets 2NE1's 'Falling In Love' feel to it. It's amazingly bright and colourful and a perfect video for the summer. The dance scene with the pool is just stunning and I would love a dance version with just that. The girls of course look stunning. SISTAR are known for their sexy concepts and this video doesn't disappoint on that front. They don't take themselves too seriously here which can be a pitfall for many groups. It's just a really fun and uplifting video. I have to say though that I'm not a massive fan of the choreography here, they can do better, it's quite simple and the 'butt shaking move' is just kinda embarrassing.

It's getting a lot of comparisons to Girl's Day newest video, ok they do have similar concepts to them but no one's copying anyone here, it's summer, tons of videos like this come out. I'm not a massive fan of the Girl's Day video, mostly because of the awkward editing but that doesn't really matter.

Overall this a great summer tune from a great girl group, they never dissapoint. Also I'd recommend listening to the whole mini album, it might be their best.
'Red Light' is an electro-pop song that goes hard. Switching between fast pace rap style verses, a synth-pop style light pre-chorus to a crazy chorus. There's a lot going on here but it's all threaded together wonderfully. The bridge is SUBLIME too. We've never really heard this kind of style from them before. The first play may be jarring to some and not instantly catchy like Electric Shock but after a few plays I promise this will be stuck in your head just like any other classic f(x) hit. SM are really taking some experimental steps with the music they put out and I think it's superb.

f(x) always have really interesting artistic styles for their concept photos but then when it comes to the MV it's a standard 'k-pop dance in a box' style. That's not the case for 'Red Light'. They've stepped out of the box and into an abandoned warehouse set. Don't get me wrong I like the box set MVs that others dislike, they show off choreography well, the intricate dancing and high aesthetic style is what drew me into k-pop in the first place. But it's always good to chance things up, but the choreography definitely took the backseat here. f(x) are known for their greatly executed dancing so some fans may feel disappointed. The editing is slick and the styling is perfect (can we talk about how amazing Luna looks with the short blue bob?!). We finally got a 'dark' concept for f(x) that I feel shows a more mature side to the girls. For me this is a near perfect comeback.

At the time of writing this they are nearing 2 million views on the MV in less than 24 hours! That's incredible! That's SNSD levels of views/time.

P.S The highlight melody for the album was also released a few days ago and it sounds great! Really can't wait to listen to it. Pink Tape was my favourite album of 2013 and this potentially could even be better.
I don't normally go for the whole cutesy thing they were doing for the first couple singles. But over time they've slowly morphed into this quirky group with their own distinct individuality. Since 'Bangkok City' they haven't had a bad single. 'Lipstick' was friggin' amazing. They also have some INCREDIBLE album tracks in their discography that I suggest you check out. See 'Bubble Bath' & 'One Love'.

'Catallena' is described as an 'indian disco song' that samples a a Pakistani folk song (!!!), so obviously it's amazing. The lyrics describe a mysterious 'Catallena' woman. urgh seriously I just love everything about it. So funky, so fresh. Listening Orange Caramel, you're never bored, Pledis are really doing a great thing here with them.
The video is the most original MV I've seen in k-pop since.. well their last MV 'Lipstick'. I've also included 5 other albums that didn't make my top 10 because I wanted to mention them. I've just written quick blurbs about why I liked each album and then put which tracks I think you should definitely listen to.

Released on Janurary 1st, SNSD got the year off to a very good start. The title track "I Got a Boy" was phenomenal and did something the k-pop world has never seen. A lot of people thought the composition was disjointed and annoying but after a few plays you start to realise the greatness of what the composers do here. How all the different layers of the song come together towards the end.. <3. The rest of the album was also great. No filler, making this probably the best Korean album SNSD have released to date. Highlights: I Got a Boy, 말해봐 (Talk Talk), Express 999 & 낭만길 (Romantic St.)

Over the past year VIXX have become one of my favourite groups. They have yet to release a bad single and 저주인형was no exception. The "째깍 째깍 다 이뤄지리라" bit is awesome isn't it? When I downloaded the album and listen to it I was pleasantly surprised to find it pretty good. Highlights: 저주인형, Beautiful Killer, Secret Night, Someday & 대답은 너니까

We waited a while for GD's second full length effort and I have to say I was a little disappointed. Heartbreaker is still one of my favourite albums and Coup d'e Tat didn't come close. There are no boundaries being pushed here. GD puts the same things out again and again. 삐딱하게 (Crooked) sounds like it was composed last-minute in about 15 minutes just to create a catchy title track (and it actually was, Teddy said in an interview). The only song that comes close to being interesting is "Window" and that was actually a bonus track. It still makes my top 10 because what GD does, he does well and the feature with Missy is cool. I just want him to mix it up a bit. Highlights: 늴리리야 (Niliria), R.O.D, WINDOW.

Fellow label mate SeungRi created something will a lot more substance. The title tracks is divine and production is flawless and the album makes number 7 just for that. The other tracks are pretty good though. Highlights: 할말 있어요 (Gotta Talk to U), Let's Talk About Love, You Hoooo!!!

2PM definitely grew up with this album. They produced a very mature sounding album. Al lot of long time fans were put off by this with 2PM being known for putting out dance tracks. 하.니.뿐. is wonderful and probably my favourite 2PM song ever (ok maybe except the classic Again & Again). If you're looking for a k-pop album with a bit more soul you'll find it here. They've also improved their vocals tremendously here. Highlights: 하.니.뿐., 이 노래를 듣고 돌아와, 고백 (Go Back) & Coming Down

When it come to vocals, there's no doubt that BEG are the best. Their latest full length album only solidified that. KILL BILL was just awesome, with this western yet modern feel. Also make sure you listen to 거짓말이야 it's brilliant. Highlights: KILL BILL, 거짓말이야, Recipe/the whole thing tbqh.

Oh how long did EXO fans wait for this? Well it was worth it. The two "subunits" or whatever finally came together to deliver an awesome dub-stepy//ooooofy title track. The rest of the album is so solid too, couple dud tracks but overall extremely solid for a first full length album. The repackage track "Growl" was also a jam and the MV was so slick. Highlights: 늑대와 미녀 (Wolf), Black Pearl, Let Out The Beast, Heart Attack, My Lady & Growl.

3. SHINee - Everybody

OH MA GAAD. After one (I guess actually two) amazing albums earlier in the year I didn't expect SHINee to do anything else. But I was so wrong, you check out my full review here but basically SHINee's best song ever is on this mini "상사병 (Symptoms)", actually possibly the best song in kpop album track history and the whole thing was just generally amazing blah blah blah basically I'm a SHINee stan now. Highlights: whole thing, common it's only like 7 tracks you can do it.

2. SHINee - the misconceptions

Before they released that awesome mini though we had the two/actually kinda three part album that I'm dubbing "the misconceptions". The title tracks like actually weren't that great although Dream Girl is actually quite a jam it just didn't have that quirkiness you kinda expect from SHINee. But the two albums as wholes were incredible. I still listen to them now on the daily. Just listen to them, I don't care if you don't like SHINee I guarantee to you that there will be a song on there that you will like. I'm gonna pick some faves but it's like picking your favourite child to me so. Highlights: 아름다워 (Beautiful), Dynamite, Nightmare, 오르골 (Orgel), Spoiler, Dream Girl.

1. f(x) - Pink Tape

This was the best k-pop album of 2013, I don't care what you say. I can already hear the fangirls "But GD coup de'tat.." No, stop, sorry but yes these 5 girl blew your precious G-Dragon out the water. Here there is innovation, there is perfect execution, there is genre swapping with ease. 미행 (그림자 : Shadow) alone is better than most albums these groups put out. I mean 첫 사랑니 (Rum Pum Pum Pum) features a bloody round for christ-sake. I'm so glad f(x) (and SHINee to an extent) exists because SM really push the boundaries of what k-pop does and should do with them. Listen to the whole thing, enjoy it, give in to it's quirks and weirdness and you will become enlightened to a whole new level of the human existence. Hightlights: Do I even have to say?

Well done you made it through my ramblings! Now, what were your favourite albums of the year?

BoA surprised released the music video to her new Japanese single "Shout It Out" apparently out in march and I'm so here for it.
The slick dance moves, the lovely electro-pop production, her new nose. All perfect. Not her best single ever though btw but I'm jamming to it. I love the styling and the all female backup dancers too (who I also couldn't keep my eyes off).

I love BoA, she is definitely one of the best female solo artist in recent years in Korea and for sure the best dancer.

Now come back to Korea to show everyone how it's done please?
Their debut song was fresh and the whole "we're an idol group but also some of us form a band with this other chick" concept was interesting, Korean idols playing instruments is not something you see very often. But after their debut I lost interest, I don't know why none of their songs really appealed to me - until now.

Both and song and video for "Miniskirt" are essential a Bravesound/SISTAR/Alone rip-off which I dunno, has already been done about one hundred times since by just about everyone but I love it. I don't actually care too much about these rehashes because Brave does manage to change it up enough that I don't get bored and 'Alone' is one of my favourite k-pop songs so it's all cool. I'm still jamming. It's actually quite impressive how many songs he's managed to create from essentially the same thing with only a few being kinda shit.

It's a sexy concept which seems to be very much in for 2014 so far. It turned Janurary 1st and about 10 teasers popped up for various different groups showing a lot of skin. This is no exception, AOA are rolling around on the floor and un-zipping their skirts.

This is actually probably been my favourite girl group comeback of 2014 so far (not that there has been that many). Talking of which can SNSD and 2NE1 please comeback with full albums now please? Cheers.

I wasn't anticipating them too much just because I often find debut's a little bit awkward and never really that inspired. But seeing as they are from one the big three I kept an eye out.

The song is really slick. It may not immediately be catchy but it slowly creeps it's way into your head. The "omana" sample from Sohee classic line from Tell Me is so cool.

Their dancing isn't as slick as some other groups you might see in k-pop but I LIKE THAT. Sometimes k-pop can be too perfect and formulated. This actually looks what you might actually see if you walked into an underground-dance-battle-club-place in Seoul. There's definitely some sort of spark there.

But I could easily hear 2PM here. If I just heard the song with no other information, I'd guess 2PM were singing it. They have the same style of singing, I'm sure that probably comes from having the same vocal coach etc and this song probably started off life as a 2PM demo. But these guys seem cool and I can't wait to hear the rest of the mini on the 20th and to see how they grow. Debut's are hardly ever ground breaking (except miss A) because they like to play it safe to start off with but hopefully JYP do something interesting with this group.

"DOOM DADA" is the usual YG affair, a Hip Hop track with a lot of bass, which is fine, but where it excels is T.O.P's delivery. He is actually the best rapper in BIG BANG if you ask me. He spits the verses with rapid precision. There isn't really much of a proper hook but it's ok, the focus is instead put on the verse where it belongs. It manages to be much more interesting than pretty much anything you'll find on GD's latest album.

The MV is pretty crazy and leaves you puzzled. I don't know if there was meant to be a story or not but I sure as hell couldn't follow it but it was cool. I particular loved the bit with the spinning skeletons, very effective.

I not sure why YG decided to release this now, right in the middle of Taeyang's promotions but I guess it's more just for BIG BANG's dome tour in Japan or something.

Praying for GD&TOP vol. 2 though to be honest.

Wow right? So simple but executed so well, giving some of the best vocals of her life, and the production is AMAZING. The whole thing is like a f**k you to the haters, critics etc not sex which you would initially think.

I haven't seen anyone not praise the song to high heaven, only some Katy Perry stans that realise this trumps everything on Prism quite easily and it's only a promo single :( poor Katy.

When I heard SHINee were releasing another album this year I was initially worried. Having released two full albums in Korea and one in Japan I was worried that SM might scrape the bottom on the barrel with this one or there would at least by some Korean remakes of Japanese albums tracks. How wrong was I. SHINee have created one of their most cohesive albums yet full of unexpected twists and turns click through to read my full review...

Everybody
The album opens with the title track and single - you can read my review of the single here. Not their best single ever but the performance is perfect and makes the song better. Definitely check out their performance on Inkigayo if you get a chance. 7/10

상사병 (Symptoms)
SHINee might be best known for their semi-experimental title tracks but what they do best is RnB. With production from The Underdogs and lyrics from Jonghyun himself this might be my favourite track on here and one of my SHINee tracks ever. Each member provides smooth vocals over piano and percussion. The way the drums punctuate the chorus - incredible. You can feel the emotion here. I true achievement for this band and it's lovely to hear this kind of stuff in k-pop. Near perfection. I wish this was a single, some visuals for this would have been awesome. 9.5/10

빗 속 뉴욕 (Queen Of New York)
Probably best described as old school with a modern twist. Love the vibe of this one. Nothing special here but SHINee do it well. 7/10

1분만 (One Minute Back)
Another favourite from the album. The production here is flawless. Minimal precussion on the verses and them synths that punch you in the face on the chorus to then suddenly going into whispering. The very short rap verse comes from no where for about a 2 seconds with a very interesting flow. Then a quiet bridge, then another chorus punch to the face. On first listen it may seem chaotic and messy but it's not. Each section has been perfectly thought out. This is the type of song you only see SHINee or maybe f(x) doing and I love it. 9/10

Destination
I can imagine this is a favourite amongst SHINee fans. Usual powerful harmony on the chorus, super catchy, good verses, good rap verse. Everything needed for a good album track. We've heard this type of song many times from SHINee but I'm not complaining 8/10

닫아줘 (Close The Door)
Ah, the dreaded obligatory k-pop ballad. Often filler, lacking creativity and all follow the same formula. This however, is not one of those. SHINee really do have some of the best voices amongst idols and this song shows that. A slightly old school sound again here with those synths. I was listening to this in whilst doing my grocery shopping and I had a bit of a eureka moment and I was jamming in the aisles - "wow this is really good" 8/10

Colorful
Happy synths dotted pop track - it screams "COLORFUL!"in your face and except it. "I think your'e magical, I think you're wonderful, because of you, my heart is colorful!". We also hear Key rapping again which is nice. Another fan favourite no doubt. In fact this might be song directed at the fans. 8/10

SHINee have really created something special here. The collection of songs has a direction, something that k-pop albums often lack, they swap from genre to genre with nothing to tie them together. "Everybody however has a theme and is executed with near perfect results in some places. Symptoms is seriously amazing and one of the best tracks to come out of k-pop in a while. SHINee should have DSBK as five level popularity but they don't. What has been created here is one of the best releases of 2013 so far.

Make sure you listen to: The whole thing to be honest.

Ella Henderson is the reason X Factor should continue on. When it finds people this talented and gives them a platform to go far it's worth the rest of the crap it creates.

I'm obsessed with this girl's voice and the song is pretty good too. Syco better not ever let this girl go if they have any sense, she could be big, I want her to be big.EddieXXIhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03552055105738959330noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9139846626263024706.post-8966889788399147562013-10-14T03:57:00.000-07:002013-10-15T15:12:16.353-07:00[Single Review] SHINee are at the top of their game & rival TVXQ with "Everybody" SHINee are back with their THIRD I repeat THIRD comeback of the year. That's kinda crazy. Although k-pop artists usually have much quicker promotion cycles than you would find in the west they still normally limit themselves to once maybe twice a year (unless you are B.A.P). SM really seem to be pushing SHINee hard at the moment and I really hope this isn't signalling the end for them or that some of them might be going into the army. Although I'd love to see some solo work from them.

When I first heard this song and snippets via teasers I initially though, oh no another boring dupstep-y track, the chorus is not particularly interesting or catchy and is quite frankly kinda lazy from a composition sort of view. The verses are better and Minho isn't rapping this time which makes for a nice change, although he's got better since debut days, he isn't that great and I think I actually prefer his singing voice much like Amber in f(x). It's ok but when compared to other SHINee singles like Lucifer & Sherlock it doesn't compare.

Where the song really shines however is when they perform it. This choreography is incredible, they throw each other around, turn into a transformer and they execute it perfectly. If you ask me, this solidifies SHINee as the best dancers in k-pop for sure. Infinite need to up their game to take their crown. The song wasn't really crafted to be listened to as much as performed to. If they ever perform it completely live (which I'm hoping they will next week) and the vocals are on point SHINee are seriously up to TVXQ level standard and that's incredible. SHINee are probably my favourite band in k-pop these days and I couldn't stand them back in 2009. They constantly show growth with every comeback and release albums that are consistent throughout.
They are now back to the original six members and although I really like Areum I'm quite happy with this and I hope they keep this lineup from now on. Knowning CCM this wont be the case though. Anyway onto the song..

Number 9 feels like a hark back to their "Absolute First Album" days (one of the best k-pop albums ever btw if you've never listened to it). I adore this song. It's like Sexy Love only about 10 times better. Sexy Love was meant to be their big comeback after the Hwayoung scandal but it really didn't live up to the quality of their previous singles, for me anyway, it was a good single but not incredible. THIS is the big comeback I wanted.

Produced by Shinsadong Tiger (responsible for most of BEAST'S and 4minute's big hits) "Number 9" starts of with just a guitar and a gentle oooooh before dropping right in the deep end of a club song. Which is basically the best way to start any song isn't it? The song is incredibly catchy throughout. My favourite part is Jiyeon's with that robotic "number 9" in the background. Awesome.

There is also of course some awkward english "I'm addict.. I'm addict..." it's almost forgivable and what T-ara song is complete without it tbh?

T-ara just don't know how to release a bad single. Hopefully this can help them recover to being one of the biggest groups in Korea again because this is for sure my favourite k-pop single this half of the year.

I also love the video, it's a pretty standard k-pop affair but it fits the song perfectly and choreo is pretty good for T-ara's usually pretty low standards. Oh and Qri eats a rose... obviously.

But the fact is I've had it on repeat for the past day now after someone reminded me of it's existence. They're meant to be the next version of the Pussycat Dolls except they are completely different. More pop and all of them actually sing.

It's just fun and SUPER catchy oh my days. I also stan for Lauren Bennett so it's good to see her make it through the death of the excellent Paradiso Girls. The dancing is pretty good too, it doesn't match many of k-pop girl group dance routines in it's complexity but it is executed well. They can actually dance unlike the majority of western girl groups. That's why I liked the Pussycat Dolls, sure all but two of them couldn't sing (..and never did) (Poor Melody) but they could kill a dance routine and were super sexy.

But who the one that acts like a 12 year old in the video even though she's like a full grown woman?! Who told you to do that?!

Anyway check out "Vacation" below. I hope we hear more from them and that they don't die out like the poor Paradiso Girls :( .

Britney's back with a STOMPING first single off her yet untitled eighth studio album. She doesn't hold back on it does she?

It's a collaboration between her, will.i.am and one of the guys from Swedish House Mafia and it sounds exactly like a collaboration between her, will.i.am and one of the guys from Swedish House Mafia. The beat is basically taken straight from that SHM song Greyhound. A song that I love but always craved vocals for so I'm cool with that. The british accent also makes a comeback and it kinda makes her sound like Cher Lloyd (awkward), I swear you can also hear some backing vocals from Miss Lloyd as well which makes me think that this may have started out life as a Cher Lloyd demo.

I most likely am of course entirely wrong.

This of course will be massive in the clubs around the galaxy but is it Britney's best ever lead single? I'm not sure, it's missing something I can't place my finger on.

It's fun, it's cheeky, it's a bit different to her pervious stuff. It kinda gives me flashbacks to Scream and Shout but this is much more melodic and she does some really nice/interesting stuff with her voice (or a computer does I'm not quite sure). It's better than Scream & Shout though because it's actually a proper song with a semi proper chorus. Radio is going to eat this up like there's no tomorrow. It's going to be a big hit, this is a fact. It's also going straight to the top of my workout playlist, Britney telling you to WORK has got to be good motivation right?

Album 8 is gonna be good.
I saw a couple of her videos before she got signed and thought she was great and had the potential to be the next big female rapper. So when it came to her releasing her first proper single I was really excited and "Work" lived up to that excitement but I knew it would be really big. The "head over heels" line is iconic however. It wasn't really made for radio. "Bounce" on the other hand was TOO made for radio, felt like her management was grasping for a hit, it did really have that Iggy flair that I originally liked. It was a jam though and I enjoyed it.

"Change Your Life" however strikes a perfect balance. The hook is VERY catchy and will instantly get stuck running around and around in your head. She raps excellently and looks great in the music video (when she gets out the pool - wow). She also sings a little bit, nothing amazing but it's good to see she's not a one trick pony. T.I is featured in it as well which I could have done without but I understand why he's there. I'm loving this Iggy and I'm anticipating her album which is due out before the end of the year.

There's also another iconic line "We spend our Winters in the Summer of Australia,
Eating crumpets with the sailors".

Amazing.

Inspiration was obviously taken from Drake for this one. GD sing/raps/mumbles over this dreamy beat. He does something with his voice that he's never really done before, this is G-Dragon toned down. "This might be the last time we say goodbye" he repeats on the chorus. Apparently the song's about murder depending on how you interpret it. I've read the english translation and can't really see it but like a lot of things the meaning is probably lost in translation which makes the whole thing cooler and more mysterious.

I need G-Dragon doing more stuff like this. Although I am enjoying his album "Coup d'etat" somewhat, the whole thing does fall a little flat for me. We've heard everything on there before apart from "Window". There's nothing innovative there. YG hardly ever is. It's boring for the most part. I mean if friggin' Girls' Generation can release one of the most interesting k-pop tracks ever then YG can have a go too. But then again G-Dragon contributed to 100% of the tracks whereas SNSD occasionally might apparently write the lyrics to a filler album track. So swings and roundabouts. EddieXXIhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03552055105738959330noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9139846626263024706.post-10006369994278197712013-09-13T08:33:00.000-07:002013-09-13T08:33:38.278-07:00[News] Britney's new artwork is one of the worst of the year but the song will probably be one of the best A days or two ago Britney unveiled the artwork for her new single titled "Work Bitch" is it's a hot mess. Britney looks drugged up and photo shopped to death. The font is sub-par and the whole vegas thing is just bleh.. I know her management are probably trying to promote her stint in Las Vegas at the same time but the whole thing just looks kinda tacky and it's all been done before really.

Saying that the song will probably slay as do most Britney singles do. It's written by will.i.am two of the guys from Swedish House Mafia so it's basically going to be some EDM BANGER(z) that samples RuPaul. Also to be quite honest of all the women of pop comebacks occurring right now (there are quite a few) Britney's is the one I am most anticipating, you never know if somethings going to be amazing or a train wreck with her and that makes things more exciting. I have heard some alleged snippets around the web recorded by dancers at her music video shoot and it sounded promising.

As I was writing this Popjustice (i.e one of my favourite sites on the web) tweeted this:

The Britney Spears single is a 9/10 on first listen.

So some more evidence that it will in fact slay you and your family. We will all be worshipping the Lord Godney before next week is done.
I can't stand Chris as a person but this is giving everything I need. And can we talk about Nicki's verse? One of her best in a while! I've said this before and I'll say it again, Nicki seems to be best when featured on someone else's songs.

I love the theme, the dancing, everything. It's funny too. Watch below.
She's been teasing this ARTPOP thing for long enough. Poor thing broke her hip and had to cancel pretty much all of the north american Born This Way tour which is a real shame. I was lucky enough to see her in London and was blown away by her. She puts on a great show that fans and non-fans a-like will enjoy. But anyway onto Applause.

Applause is a standard electro dance song but with enough of a twist to make things a bit more interesting. Lady Gaga's delivers some interesting vocals on the verses and the chorus/hook has some interesting layering and is super catchy. You can't help but dance a little. Put your hands up make 'em touuuucch. It is still kinda generic but I kind of expect that from a first single. "Born This Way" was definitely not the best song on "Born This Way" and I expect the same from "Applause" and "ARTPOP".

What's with Gaga's obsession with Fame though still? Harking back to "The Fame (Monster)" era that a lot of people preferred to BTW. It's no Bad Romance or Poker Face though.

Overall I'm pleased with this though. It's just a good song but it wont be remembered as one of her best. Bring on ARTPOP.

P.S also side note about Gaga saying bloggers are bad blah blah blah. I know she was referring to a certain blogger that used to suck her tit but now apparently hates her and other certain bloggers. But she needs to just got over the fact that people have opinions that differ to her own. Not everyone will like you. Although I do feel too much hate goes around the internet but you kinda just have to deal, saying these things will just rile people more.EddieXXIhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03552055105738959330noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9139846626263024706.post-63088792107242477142013-08-07T14:29:00.001-07:002013-08-07T14:29:13.996-07:00[Music Video] Nelly's making a comeback with "Get Like Me"Nelly's teamed up with Nicki Minaj & Pharrel, two of the biggest names in mainstream music at the moment for his new single "Get Like Me". Have to say I'm loving this. Sure it's Drop it like it's hot part. 2 or something but whatever.

Also, anyone else feel that Nicki delivers her best verse when she's featuring on someone else's track? Why can't she drop verses like this on her own songs?!

The music videos pretty cool too.
Like alot of the k-pop community. With the debut of a crazy amount of each week, I don't always listen to those not from the big companies at first. But I listened back over their discovery after they released 다칠 준비가 돼 있어 and realised they hadn't released a bad single yet they were still relatively unpopular still. With the release of Hyde they're picking up popularity now and this song can only make their fanbase grow even further.

대.다.나.다.너 is the cutsey concept done right. Designed to contrast their last comeback, this song is a perfect catchy summer tune. It's popping with life, catchy and they do this cool thing in the MV where it's reversed but their mouths still match the words (for the most part).

It was written by the same guy who wrote SHINee's Dream Girl and I can see that. It's not particularly inventive but it's just a plain old pop song. Definitely give it a listen and their other singles if you haven't checked VIXX's stuff out before.
